TRANSFORMING COMMUNITIES

•800,000 Ugandans (3% of the population) have died of AIDS.

•An estimated 1.4 million Ugandans live with HIV/AIDS.

•2 million Ugandan children have been orphaned and the number continues to grow.

What Can Be Done?
The statistics are daunting, but we believe that through combined attention to the direct needs of the children, as well as attention to the needs and dreams of the greater community, that we will see change in Africa. Our philosophy is that family and community needs cannot be separated from the general care of children, and responses need to be developed as part of broader-based community care initiatives. However small, family based solutions are the most realistic options for children and need to be expanded in communities.
