Children need advocates, guardians and fan clubs! Normally those are just a few of the roles of a family, but as a result of the AIDS crisis, these kids have been left alone. Yet, they still require someone to stand up for them, help provide for them and to joyfully witness as they grow. They need you.
At AOET we have a lot of ways that you can be that advocate right where you live--that voice for the vulnerable, that friend that shares in the support of one child at a time. Here are some specific opportunities that you can be a part of right in your own neck of the woods:
- Serve as an advocate to promote growth in child sponsorship and help cultivate real relationships between sponsor and child.
- Engage your church body in becoming more missional and living out God’s call for justice and mercy in our world.
- Work with local schools to foster cross-cultural understanding and offer opportunities for students to make a difference as global citizens.
- Utilize music and the arts to engage hearts and minds through creative expressions of life stories.
If you are interested in these opportunities--or have some fresh ideas of your own, please contact our staff at info@aoetusa.com.
